READING RECOVERY:

Reading Recovery is an early intervention program to serve children in first grade who are having difficulty learning to read and write. The goal of Reading Recovery is to produce independent readers whose reading and writing improve so that they can fit in as a middle of a road first grader by the end of the program. This is done through a 30 minute tutorial lesson, five days a week. This lesson is in addition to the reading lesson the child gets in his/her classroom. The program lasts for an average of 18-20 weeks. Eight at-risk first graders are serviced each year.
